I'm sitting here writing this at a coffee shop in Bristol airport. I just spent 2 days in Wales running some SUPKids training for our founding UK centre, who also happen to be a B Corp (which makes them immediate business besties). And the week before last I was in Italy running the Protect Blue event and dealing with all the fun things that can pop up unexpectedly when running live events haha.
To say I'm excited about heading home this afternoon is an understatement. It's easy to imagine that all this travel is super exciting & glamourous... but the reality is that it (more often than not) involves sleeping on couches, working from airports & juggling heavy workloads whilst trying to deal with the challenges of running 2 businesses on the road.
I'm sitting here dreaming about the hot shower I'm going to have the moment I walk in the door. The laundry I can do. The dinner that I'll cook tonight and the beautiful realisation that I've got zero travel plans for the next 2 months.
Truth be told? I'm pretty damn exhausted. It's been a crazy year (in a good way) and I'm ready to slow things down a bit. The hustle is real and it's definitely not sustainable 24/7 (no matter how hard I try haha).
Here's what I'm excited about -
Deep work: The tricky thing when you move around a lot is to find the time (and the space) to dive into the bigger projects you have going on. The stuff that requires a little more commitment and definitely a little more groundedness than travel allows. I've got a couple of insanely exciting projects to work on over the summer and am sooooo stoked to be blocking out time in my calendar to get them done!
Outdoor adventures: I live on a rad little island that is the perfect place for micro-adventures. I just got all new camping equipment, 2 new boards in the last 3 months & most importantly the whole of August and September to go play outside at home!
Sweat: Yep... I just signed up for a 4 x a wk training program that I know is going to hurt haha. But holy smokes I'm psyched for it.
Ocean time: Yeah I know, I already said outdoor adventures, but I feel like I need to put this in as well. Because I'm in serious need of it. Early morning surfs, long paddles and evening swims. Yes yes yes. Blue mind is a real thing, and right now I'm ready for a big old dose of it.
Summer holiday hangouts: I've been travelling so much that it's made it super hard to spend a good amount of time hanging out with friends at home. I'm forever playing catch up, and the times that I have been at home have felt so jammed full of stuff that I've felt like throwing away my calendar. So I'm pumped to just have a good chunk of time to have friends over for dinner, plan some adventures, and just have some downtime with my besties.
How's about you? Are you in a season of yes or a season of no ??
